Home › Best Lemon Law Attorney Near Me › Ram 1500

California drivers sent NHTSA 311 complaints about the Ram 1500 in our count, spread across electrical, engine, fuel and powertrain areas. That spread means two Ram owners can have very different cases. If your truck keeps going back to the dealer for the same problem, a lemon law attorney can sort out which defect is driving your repair history and which presumption rule fits.

Short answer: the best lemon law attorney for a Ram 1500 case knows this type of claim, charges you nothing, will go to trial when a manufacturer will not be fair, tells you who will handle your case, and has real reviews you can check.

Source: NHTSA consumer complaint data, California complaints received January 2021 through early October 2026, model year 2019 and newer, counted once per complaint. Models with more vehicles on the road tend to get more complaints.

Ram 1500 Complaints in California

California drivers filed 311 complaints with NHTSA about the Ram 1500 in our count. The Ram reports involve 2019 or newer trucks, were filed from 2021 through 2026 and are each counted once. No Ram complaint in this count is a verified defect, and sales are not factored in. The Ram 1500 is a popular truck, so part of that number reflects how many are on the road.

Electrical problems were mentioned most (63), followed closely by engine problems (55). Fuel or propulsion issues had 38, transmission or powertrain 24, steering 22 and lights, cameras and visibility 18. Categories overlap because one complaint can describe several issues. The 2019 model year had by far the most complaints (106). Next were 2021 (68), 2022 (64) and 2020 (33), then 2025 (18), 2023 (13), 2026 (6) and 2024 (3). San Diego led with 16 complaints, then San Leandro (8), Los Angeles and Sacramento (6 each), and Menifee and Goleta (5 each).

We have pages for Ram 1500 recalls 21V037, 21V438, 21V698, 21V871, 21V918 and 22V407. Check your VIN to see whether any apply to your truck.

The heavy share of 2019 complaints may reflect sales volume and how long those trucks have been driven. It is not a finding that the 2019 truck is defective. What decides your case is your own truck's warranty repair history.

Sorting Ram 1500 Problems: Safety or Not

Civil Code 1793.22(b) gives a shorter path for serious safety defects. If a defect likely to cause death or serious injury was repaired two or more times within 18 months or 18,000 miles, a reasonable number of attempts is presumed. Other defects need four repairs for the same problem or more than 30 days total out of service.

On a Ram 1500, steering complaints are prime safety candidates. Engine or fuel problems that cause stalling or loss of power while driving may be too, especially when towing. A camera or light that fails while backing a full-size truck can raise safety concerns. Many electrical faults, like a frozen screen, are more likely to be four-repair or 30-day issues unless they affect driving controls.

When a truck has several different problems, each one is counted separately for the four-repair rule. But all the days the truck spent in the shop for warranty repairs can count toward the 30-day total. That is why a mixed repair history can still support a claim. And a claim can be made after 18 months or 18,000 miles if the defect first appeared under warranty.

Look in your Ram owner's manual: if it clearly requires direct notice to the manufacturer for the presumption, send it in writing and keep a copy. An attorney can check your manual and tell you whether it is required.

Keeping Ram Repair Orders Useful

When a truck has more than one problem, repair orders get messy. Use the same words for the same problem every visit so the pattern is clear. List each complaint separately when you drop off the truck. If you were towing or hauling when the problem happened, say so and describe the load.

Before you leave, read the order for each complaint, the mileage and the dates. A software update done to fix a problem you reported can count as a repair attempt, so it should appear on the order. Work on your Ram at an independent shop, or by you, does not count toward FCA US's attempts. Keep every copy, including visits marked no problem found.

When the truck is at the dealer for days, ask for a loaner or rental and keep the paperwork. Rental and towing costs for the Ram, if reasonable, can be part of a buyback. The Ram dealer must complete repairs within 30 days unless you agree otherwise, under Civil Code 1793.2(b).

  • Each complaint listed separately on the order
  • The same words for the same problem each visit
  • Towing or load details when it happened
  • Updates, parts and recall work performed
  • Days the truck was at the dealer

FCA US, Ram Dealers and Your Claim

Ram is a brand of FCA US LLC, part of Stellantis. FCA US issues the warranty on a new Ram 1500, and that is who a lemon law claim is made against. The Ram dealer repairs the truck and its repair orders prove each attempt.

Under Civil Code 1793.2(d)(2), if FCA US cannot fix a warranty defect that substantially impairs use, value or safety after a reasonable number of attempts, it must replace or repurchase the truck, and you may choose the repurchase. Restitution covers the price paid or payable, collateral charges like tax and registration, and incidental damages like towing and rental, minus a mileage offset.

Many Ram 1500s are work trucks. A Ram 1500 used for work can qualify when the business has no more than five vehicles registered in California and the truck weighs under 10,000 pounds gross vehicle weight. On a Ram claim, a willful violation by FCA US can support a civil penalty of up to two times actual damages under Civil Code 1794(c).

You also have the right to pick restitution instead of a replacement truck. Restitution is reduced by a mileage offset based on miles driven before you first brought the truck in for the problem, so early reports can make a difference.

Example (Not a Real Client): A Truck With Two Problems

This example is made up to show how a mixed repair history is reviewed. Sam is invented, as is his business. Sam bought a new Ram 1500 for his contracting work. In the first year, the truck stalled twice while towing, and the center screen froze several times.

The dealer performed an update for the screen and replaced an engine part for the stalling. Both problems came back. Over four visits, the truck spent more than a month at the dealer. Sam brought his contract, registration showing three business vehicles, and every repair order to a free case review.

The attorney separated the two problems, looked at whether stalling while towing was a safety defect, added up the days out of service across all visits and confirmed the business-vehicle limits. Then the attorney handled the notice to FCA US.

Sam's case shows why it helps to keep every repair order, even for problems that seem minor. The frozen screen alone might not have been enough, but the days it added to the total mattered.

Questions to Ask a Ram 1500 Attorney

Ask how the attorney handles a truck with more than one problem. Ask whether they count days out of service across all warranty visits. Ask whether your work use changes anything and what records prove the business-vehicle limits.

Ask about cost. A Ram 1500 owner who wins has the attorney fees, costs and expenses paid by FCA US under Civil Code 1794(d). Ram owners pay us $0 out of pocket, and if we lose, they owe nothing at all. Find out whether the Code of Civil Procedure 871.20 pre-lawsuit notice and mediation steps will apply to your Ram claim.

Ask whether the attorney represents only consumers in these cases, and who will be your main contact. You should also ask how they will keep you informed if the case moves into the pre-lawsuit mediation steps.

  • Which of my truck's problems is strongest?
  • Do all my shop days count toward 30?
  • Does my business use matter?
  • What do I pay if my Ram case is lost?

Ram 1500 Next Steps

Gather your contract, registration and every repair order. Make a list of each problem with the dates it was reported. Add up the days the truck was at the dealer. Check your VIN on NHTSA's recall site, then call 877-536-6620 for a free case review.

If you already traded in the truck, a claim may still be possible. A buyer does not have to still own the vehicle to pursue lemon law remedies, so bring the trade-in paperwork to your review.

  • Contract, registration and every repair order
  • A list of each problem and when it started
  • A count of days at the dealer
  • Towing, rental and load notes
