Electric models such as the Lyriq, Optiq, Vistiq and Escalade IQ use a separate EV booklet. Cadillac's EV warranty booklet keeps the 4-year or 50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper coverage and covers certain electric propulsion components, including the high-voltage battery, for 8 years or 100,000 miles.

For certified pre-owned buyers, Cadillac describes a 1-year, unlimited-mile limited warranty that begins when the original 4-year or 50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper coverage ends. Confirm the terms printed in your own CPO paperwork, since programs change.

The longer bumper-to-bumper term is useful for lemon law. Recalls on gas and electric models

The electrical system is the most common recall component, with 9 recalls. That fits a lineup with large screens, digital gauge clusters and complex battery systems. Power train follows with 7 recalls, then seat belts with 5, air bags and equipment with 4 each, and gasoline fuel system, suspension and seats with 3 each.

Cadillac's newer EVs show up in several recent campaigns. Examples include a traction battery recall for the Escalade IQ and Escalade IQL, a Lyriq software recall affecting the rearview camera, and a power seat recall for the Vistiq. Gas Escalades have their own, such as a transfer case recall.

One Cadillac recall in the data instructed owners not to drive the vehicle. No recalls carried a park-outside warning. How a Cadillac Lemon Law Claim Works

Getting service

Warranty repairs must be done by an authorized Cadillac dealer. Ask your dealer whether it offers loaner vehicles or pickup and delivery, and use courtesy transportation when it is available. Dealers can also install software updates, and Cadillac sends some updates over the air. Lemon law looks at repair attempts by authorized facilities, so keep warranty work at the dealer.

Building your paper trail

For each visit, get a repair order that shows your complaint as you described it, the mileage, the date you dropped off and picked up, and what the technician did. Ask the advisor to add details like "rear camera displays black screen in reverse" instead of a vague note. If the dealer says no problem was found, take the paperwork anyway. In our experience, waiting too long to bring the car in is the biggest mistake owners make, because the mileage offset starts at the first repair visit for the defect.

Documenting a high-tech Cadillac

• Film the problem when it happens: a curved display that freezes, a gauge cluster that goes dark, or a driver-assist feature like Super Cruise that disengages with a warning.
• Screenshot charging errors in the Cadillac app or on the vehicle screen, with the date and charger location.
• Write down each software update and what it was supposed to fix. In our experience, the same update can be tried 5 or 6 times without success, and each one can count as a repair attempt.
• Count the days the vehicle sits at the dealer, including days waiting for parts.

The legal standard

Civil Code section 1793.22(b) presumes the manufacturer had a reasonable number of attempts if, within 18 months or 18,000 miles, a defect likely to cause death or serious injury was repaired 2 or more times, the same problem was repaired 4 or more times, or the vehicle was out of service more than 30 days total. You can qualify outside that window. In our experience, a recall repair visit counts as a repair attempt, and a recall with no available fix can support a buyback on its own.
