As I was moving forward, in the middle of the intersection, the automatic emergency braking system activated which slammed on my brakes, involuntarily, in the middle of the intersection. There were no hazards in front of me that the vehicle would have detected as being a cause for braking. Thankfully, no one was coming through the intersection at the time from the perpendicular sides or else I would have been hit. The braking was so forceful that it caused my phone, that was sitting in my lap to be flung to the floor and was ripped from the charging cord with force. Additionally, to show the force, I had books sitting on the passenger seat that all got thrown to the floor with the impact of the braking system.” (NHTSA Complaint #11689144)

A simple google search will show this is a known issue across Honda Odyssey sunroofs, Honda CRV back windshields and Honda HRV back windshields. Risk: A seat that is not locked into place can move unexpectedly, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will replace both second-row outboard seat frames, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 4, 2021. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda’s number for this recall is YBE.

Component: VISIBILITY:REARVIEW MIRRORS/DEVICES:EXTERIOR

Risk: Detached mirror glass can reduce driver visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace both left and right side-view mirrors, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed January 17, 2024. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda’s number for this recall is FE5.

Risk: A rearview camera that does not display an image can reduce the driver’s rear view, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the MOST cable harness and install a straightening cover over the vehicle cable connector, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 24, 2023. Risk: An air bag that deploys unintentionally during a crash can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the seat weight sensors, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 28, 2024, October 18, 2024, and August 2025. This is a phased recall. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda’s numbers for these recalls are XHP and VHQ.

Risk: Fuel pump failure can cause an engine stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the fuel pump module, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed September 6, 2024. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda’s numbers for this recall are KGC and KGD. This recall is an expansion of NHTSA recall numbers 21V-215 and 20V-314.

Risk: An unsecured wheelchair can move during transit, increasing the risk of injury.

California Lemon Law — Song-Beverly Act

California’s Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act (Cal. Civ. Code §§ 1790–1795.8) is one of the strongest lemon laws in the United States. It protects buyers and lessees of new and certified pre-owned vehicles that develop substantial defects the manufacturer cannot repair after a reasonable number of attempts.

Under Cal. Civ. Code § 1793.22, a lemon law presumption is triggered when any of the following apply to your 2022 Honda Odyssey:

  • 4+ repair attempts for the same non-safety defect without resolution
  • 2+ repair attempts for a defect likely to cause death or serious bodily injury
  • 30+ calendar days out of service for warranty repairs (cumulative, not consecutive)
